Writing poetry is one of the great pleasures, and Keith Stanley–Mallett’s enjoyment of the art is as infectious as ever in this his fifth collection of verse.
In his work there is a keen sense that what we see or hear or touch or smell or taste is only the start of it. There is more, much more, to be winkled out and mulled over. Keith’s poems have the power to enrich the way we look at the world, drawing out the inner poet in all of us.
This volume, book five, is perhaps the last of my books of contemporary light verse, written to encourage those who do not normally read poetry or light verse, to perceive how light contemporary verse is easy to read and understand.
Added to this, I believe my work can be viewed as humorous, where applicable, to the point and I hope informative in part.
My work was written for Mr and Mrs Everyone, and not intellectuals.
Your judgement will be the reality in which my work will be received.
You, the readers, are the judge.
All the poems in this book are previously unpublished.
