This work is, to paraphrase an old cliché, a book of two halves. The first sixteen pieces or so are general thoughts on paper depending on the mood of the day coupled with the ongoing illness of my late wife, which was primary progressive multiple sclerosis. As her main carer, and still holding down a job, things gradually worsened and, as other outdoor pursuits, hobbies and companions disappeared, evening time with my word processor was good therapy. The second half came about following redundancy, when my wife’s health was going downhill so fast it was frightening. More help was given by various ladies from an agency, plus one special guardian angel, which stopped me going mad. Out of this grew a fantasy of works which were based on me courting my wife all over again. This created, in mainly blank verses, a pseudo affair with the love of my life, who was unable to respond herself, but this made life a little easier to bare.
