Sara Kouvaritakis was born on the Isle of Wight, and during her childhood she and her siblings enjoyed a lot of freedom. They spent many happy days playing on the beach, swimming in the sea or fishing from a little boat. In this way the sea became a part of her identity, and the movements of the waves and shifting sand have had a profound effect on her work as a musician, painter and poet.
Sara describes her poetry writing as an opportunity to clarify her thoughts and emotions, which are translated into phrases like music. The result is aptly named Songs from My Heart.
Sara studied the clarinet at the Birmingham School of Music, and she has had a lifetime affair with painting. She now lives back on the Isle of Wight.
